Employees Dig Deep for Local School

A team of employees from SPAR Ash Crescent along with members of the Loss Prevention team and Tates Senior team spent the day knee deep in mud to create a wildlife garden area at Larkfields Infant School, Coronation Road, Nuthall.

The project formed part of the school's 'eco-week', and eco-warriors at the school assisted volunteers with planting bulbs, plants and housing worms in their new wormery.

The nature area was split into several areas and now features a wormery, pergola, nursey area and even a hedgehog house.

The wildlife garden was officially opened by the volunteers along with council officials on Thursday 15 April and almost 300 pupils and parents came along to witness the event.

Team Leader Charlotte Hudson said:

"I first heard about the Larkfields Infant School through attending the local Community Action Team Meetings, and listening to the local residents on what was happening in their area.

"By providing the Larkfields Infant School with a nature garden, not only would it offer cultural enrichment to the children, but it would continue to grow and develop, as we also hope our relationship will for many years.

"I would like to say a big thank you to Hankinson's Builders, Dignity Funeral Services, Dewfresh Flowers, Chamleys Memorials, Hearts & Flowers, Andy Fishers Memorials and Ipsissima Printers for the donation of goods and services."
